Shomik Dutta

CO-FOUNDER & MANAGING PARTNER

Shomik Dutta is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Overture Ventures. He leverages 20 years of diverse experience across venture capital, climate, and the Obama White House. He is very, very serious and a big, big thinker.

Prior to co-founding Overture, Shomik founded and ran Higher Ground Labs, an accelerator and venture fund that modernized the technology stack for campaigns and governments. Shomik began his career as a longtime Whitehouse aide, serving as Mid-Atlantic Finance Director and later as a Special Assistant in the West Wing of the White House. He later served as an Advisor to the Chairman of the Federal Communication Commission. Shomik later shifted his work to energy, overseeing the development, planning, and financing of 500MW utility-scale solar projects across Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. He treasures a brief, wildly unsuccessful investment banking experience at Morgan Stanley, where he was repeatedly assured he had no future on Wall Street.

He earned his MBA from Wharton Business School and his BA from Williams College. Shomik has served as a Technology Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and at the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics. He is a concert violinist, break-even poker player, fragile skier, and honestly just a superb guy to hang out with.
