Overture Insights with Governor JB Pritzker
FROM STATEHOUSE TO GRID SCALE
Thursday, January 15th
12:30pm - 1:30pm PT
As electricity demand accelerates and grid constraints increasingly determine where companies can scale, state governments are becoming decisive market shapers in energy and climate. Few have moved faster or with more execution focus than Illinois.
Under Governor J.B. Pritzker’s leadership, Illinois committed to 100% clean energy by 2050 through the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, pairing climate ambition with workforce development, manufacturing growth, and grid reliability. Most recently, the state advanced its third major energy package in a decade, the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act, centered on battery storage, grid reliability, and affordability to support large scale electrification. The legislation has passed the General Assembly and now awaits the governor’s signature, which he has publicly committed to signing.
As the country grapples with accelerating electricity demand, grid congestion, domestic manufacturing, and energy affordability, Governor Pritzker joins Overture to discuss how state-level approaches like Illinois’ can serve as a practical template for federal scale. The conversation will explore how public policy can de-risk infrastructure, crowd in private capital, and accelerate deployment for energy and climate founders and investors.
