Julius Genachowski

Julius Genachowski serves as a Venture Partner at Overture. Julius has held senior leadership roles across public service and the private sector, with deep experience in technology, media, and telecommunications. He served as Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission from 2009–2013, where he led development of the first U.S. National Broadband Plan, expanded broadband access, modernized digital media rules, and strengthened the FCC’s global engagement on internet policy, cybersecurity, and privacy. Earlier, he was a senior executive at IAC and clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter.

Julius is currently a Senior Advisor at The Carlyle Group, Chairman of the Board of Sonos, Board Member at Mattel, and a Board Member of Mastercard, where he chairs the Audit Committee; he previously served on the board of Sprint through its merger with T-Mobile. He has also contributed to national security through service on the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board and the NSA’s Board of Advisors. A graduate of Columbia College and Harvard Law School, Genachowski serves on the board of HIAS, a leading refugee-assistance organization.
